[from otjb own correspondent,] WELLINGTON, Deo. 11. The Times this morning suggests the appointment of Sir John Hall to the Upper House. It says that the Liberal Party has come back from the elections so strong that it has no need to make a single appointment to the Council. In the plenitude of its strength a graceful act would become tho Government which leads the party. The appointment of Sir John Hall to the Upper House would ba a graceful act, eminently popular with the women of New Zealand, who ought to bo considered, and by no means displeasing to the Liberal Party, which was always courteous to the other side. Mr Forster Goring, a very old resident, has died at his residence, Hawkestoaa street. The deceased gentleman was for a long time Clerk to the Executive Council of the Colony, but resigned that office four years ago. Deceased succumbed to au attack of bronchitic, at the ago of eightythree years. He was a son of the late Sir Charles Forster Goring, of Highden, Sussex. The deceased gentleman was a widower, aud leaves six children, three of whom are married in England. The others are—Colonel Goring, in charge of the Permanent Artillery at Auckland, Mrs Johnston, wife of the Hon W. W. Johnston, and Mr Barry Yelverton Goring.
