CRICKET.

[Special to Press Association.] THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM. SYDNEY, Dec. 10.

The Australian cricketers returned by the Warrimoo. No official welcome was accorded them. They state that the foundation for the statements published by Turner regarding quarrelling among the team was a good deal exaggerated. Several members of the team assort that it was badly managed, and that they were treated more like boys than men. Coningham sticks up for the manager, who, he says, was badly treated, and declares that the failure of the team was due to the prejudice of the captain. George Giffen states that Turner acted the part of a dog-in-the-manger in making public certain statements reflecting on certain members of the team on his return to the Colonies some weeks ago. The members are loth to say much in view of the whole matter being investigated by the Cricket Council. With the exception of Coningbn,m the members of the team have strived in good health.

A GIGANTIC SCORE. ADELAIDE, Dec. 9.

In the Inter-collegiato cricket match, a player named Hill, retired, after making 360, which is the highest individual score ever recorded in Australia. The innings closed for 621, only sis below the record of the Colony.

Despite the drawback of a furious gale which raged on Saturday afternoon, necessitating for some time play without bails, the various games were gone on with, with a reasonable regard for punctuality. After about an hour’o play the wind abated, and a pleasant afternoon was experienced. SENIOR CUP. United v. Midland.
