SUMNER BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of this Council was hrid on Tuesday evening; present— The Mayor and Councillors Carpenter, Eitson, Graham and Hughes. Councillor Hayward sent aa apology for absence. The Treasurer’s statement showed the amount of rates received since last meeting to have been £l2 Gs 4d. The Engineer reported that he had frequently visited the lower reservoir since the new bottom had been completed, and found it to be thoroughly sound in every respect. He recommended that connections with the houses in the Borough should now be made. The report was adopted. The report of the Works Committee was adopted. It was decided to erect a fence around the reservoirs without delay, also to place kerbing in front of Mr Drew’s shop, and to form on the usual terms a footpath five feet wide on the east side of Morton street to the beach, also one on the west side if the owners are willing. Accounts amounting to J 230 Ss 5d were passed for payment.
