NEW ZEALAND CYCLISTS' ALLIANCE.

A meeting of the New Zealand Cyclists’ Alliance was held at the Pioneer Bicycle Club’a room last evening; present—Mr W. B. Byre (Dunedin Cycling Club) in the chair, and Messrs W. F, Waller (Auckland Cycling Club), W. J. S. Hayward (Pioneer Bicycle Club), W. A. Scott (Wellington Cycling Club), K, Sneddon and E. A. England (Ashburton Cycling Club), N. Oates (Taieri Eamblers’ Cycling Club) and H. J. Moss (Hon Secretary), The Chairman read a letter from Mr E, Eeynoids, the Auckland champion, stating that in all probability he would be unable to accompany the New Zealand team to Sydney. Eegret was expressed, and the matter of selecting a rider to fill 2dr Eeynoids’ place should be be unable to go was leitin the hands of.the Selection Committee. A hearty veto of thanks was passed to the Seieotion Committee for the manner in which it carried out tbe cycling trials at Lancaster Park last week. A similar compliment was passed to the Lancaster Park Company for the use of the Park. The Chairman read a cablegram from the Queensland Cyclists’ Unionj stating that tbe cycling championships of Queensland would be held at Brisbane on Sept. 23 to enable the Now Zealanders to compete it they wished. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Queensland Union thanking it for fixing the date of the Queensland Championship Meeting so as to give the New Zealanders an opportunity of competing. The Clerk to the Akaroa County Council wrote, calling attention to the danger of cyclists riding on the roads on the Peninsula owing to the horses there not being accustomed to bicycles. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Council to the effect that the Alliance would do all in its power to prevent any accidents occurring. The Chairman stated that the Canterbury members of the New Zealand team would leave Lyttelton for Sydney on Tuesday, August 15. Mr Hayward was appointed Treasurer of the team and also to watch tbe interests of the Alliance while in Australia. The members of the team were appointed a Committee of Management. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on Friday Sept. 8. Tho meeting then closed.
