WHAT SHALL WE DO WITH OUR BOYS?
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Givo them the birch. This ia what I thought this afternoon when I witnessed the cowardly behaviour of a “pack” of boys in Gordon street, Linwood. About fifteen boya, ranging in years from about tea to fifteen, set to “ cheek” a young man in the above street. When this young man remonstrated with “ our boyp,” they uaed road metal liberally, and. as discretion ia the better part of valour, tho said young man took to his hetds, followed by the “ p-iok.” This seems t > be a common practice with the boys at Linwood. Hava we a policeman in Liawood ? If so, can he keep these hoys in check? Their parents do not seem to care what they do. Tnose same boys cannot be of the very poor class, who have no homes. They are to be met at all hours smoking cigarettes. I would be sorry to put the first taint of gaol on them, but I would say once more, give them the birch. —I am, &<s„ ONE WHO SAW.
