The diamond, in a sufficient heat, will burn like a piece of charcoal. Thera is a curious stone found in Finland which acts as a perfect barometer, foretelling the changes ia the weather with great accuracy. “ Semakuir ” is the native name for it. On the approach of ram it turns black, and when fine weather may be expected it becomes marked with, spots of white.
