FOOTBALL.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sih, —In giving the result of the football match Christchurch Second v. Merivale Second, in yesterday’s paper, you place the report under the heading of “ Junior Flag,” and your reporter states that the match was played at the request of the Canterbury Rugby Union in consequence of a protest against a goal scored by Merivale in a previous match. Allow me to inform you that this was not the case. The game was not a Junior Flag match, was not plsycd at the request of the Canterbury Rugby Union, and had nothing whatever to do with the protest above referred to. By inserting this correction in yonr nest issue, you will oblige.—l am, &c., C. W. NICOLL, Honorary Secretary,
Christchurch Football Club,
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Would you allow me to ask, through your columns, the Rugby Union Committee to have the final match played off at Lancaster Park between the Hardware and Sydenham ? As teams they have proved to be very good, and many are looking forward to a good game between the teams, I would suggest that one-half of the takings should go to some benevolent institution.—l am, &c.,
POOR IN NEED,
