Lambie, Jervis, Darcy, Watson, Gray, W. M’Kenzie and Ohphant played splendidly on Saturday. The game was a forward one throughout. The Daily Telegraph says that, under the disadvantage of a greasy ball and slippery turf, the new men played up to their high reputation.

WELLINGTON, July 81.
A public meeting was held to-night to consider what steps should be taken to welcome the New Zealand football team on its return from Australia. The Mayor presided, and about 130 were present. A large, influential Committee, including several M.H.E.'s, was appointed to carry out the arrangements. The Committee will meet to-morrow to consider what shape the reception shall take. It was decided to ask the Unions affiliated to the New Zealand Union to subscribe towards presenting each member of the team with a memento of the visit. It is probable that fifteen of the team will be sent to Timaru to play a South Canterbury team.
The following will represent the Christchurch Post and Telegraph Department in the returm match against Christ’s College, on the College ground, at 8 p.m. tomorrow Larcombe (2), Andrews, Mansell, Boss, Gray, Burgess, Thomas, Chambers, Brooker, Scully, Young, M’Guire, Sherrabt and Bourke; emergencies—Cos, Morland, Alexander, Cotter and Matthews,
A meeting of butchers will be held in the Oxford Hotel this evening, at eight o’clock, to consider the advisableness of arranging football matches for Thursday afternoons.
