BANDS OF HOPE.

The Eev G. O. Griffiths, of Greendale, gave a capital address, which was listened to with great attention. Songs were contributed by Misses May and B. Moffat, L. Sleeman, E. Whall, A. Long, C. Williams and Messrs Harrison and Witheil; recitations were creditably given by Misses Craighead, B. Moffat and Smith, and Masters J. Sleeman, J. M’Loughlia and G. Smith. Mr C. W. Witheil recited “ The Gambler’s Wife,” and Master C. Mulholland treated the meeting to a selection of music on the auto-harp. Several new members were enrolled.

At the monthly meeting of the Greenpark Band of Hope the attendance was smaller than usual owing to the prevalence of measles in the district. A good programme waa submitted and was evidently enjoyed by those present. On Friday evening the Committee met and arranged details in connection with the next monthly meeting. It was also decided to taka strong measures to suppress the Istrikinism which had become intolerable at these meetings.
