M&ile close for the following places as under, subject to the accessary alterations

Friday, March 24. For Dunedin, per Rotorua, at 11.10 a.m.; late fee letters, 11,20 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Chatham Islands, per H.M.S. Ringdove, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. Saturday, Maroh 23. For Napier (direct), per Kawatiri, at 1.45 p.m. j late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Australian Colonies and also for United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via Brindisi, leaving Melbourne on April 11, and also per Orient steamer, leaving Melbourne on April 4, and for Dunedin, per Mararoa at 1.45 p.m; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train.

For Greymouth (direct), per Wareatea, at 4,20 p.m.; lato fes letters, 4.35 p.m.; guard’s van, 5.30 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 8 p.m.; guard's van, 9.5 p.m. train.

Note.— Direct mail service to United Kingdom. There will be no departure of direct steamers on March 30 from the Colony, but the Ruahine and Tainui will both leave Lyttelton on April 22, next. Note. —On Good Friday, March 31, the Chief Post Office will be closed in all its branches. Mails usually closed on Friday will close at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March SO, and the Post Office will be open on that day from 9.30 to 10 p.m. for counter delivery of letters usually delivered by letter-carriers, including the district of Sydenham. Ou Easter Monday, April 3, the Chief Post Office, Christchurch, and the Post Office, Lyttelton, will be open as usual. The Post Office at Sydanham will be open from 9 to 10 a.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m.
