LEESTON WESLEYAN CIRCUIT

On Tuesday the quarterly meeting of the Lseston Wesleyan Circuit was held iu the Brookside church. Tae Eev W. G. Parsoason presided, and representatives from all parte of the circuit were present. Mr G. C. Waby gave aa account of tho late conference held in Dunedin, for Y/hicta. he was thanked. Tho Chairman reported the number of church members at 197. The Sunday schools were reported aa being in a satisfactory condition. The ordinary income did not mee t the ordinary expenditure by about £l2, and this caused considerable discussion. The Chairman propounded a scheme for bringing the income and expenditure more nearly alike. Tho principle, was adopted, and eventually various sums, were allocated to different parts of the circuit,-any deficiency to be considered as a debt owing by the place not raising the necessary amount. Stewards were appointed for the different places and offices that were vacant. The E*v T. W. Newbold, who is leaving the district to take charge of the Riverton circuit, was thanked for hia services, the wish being expressed that he may be successful iu hia new sphere. Several members spoke to the motion, and referred to the high cateam in which Mr Newbold was held. The Rev G. Frost (from Victoria) is to succeed Mr Newbold in the Laeston circuit. After the meeting closed the various representatives were invited to tea iu the schoolroom, the provisions being supplied by Mrs Watson, jun. and Miss Watson.
