Mails close for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations : Wednesday, March 22, For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe (specially addressed par Orient steamer only), and also for Australian Colonies (except New South Wales and Queensland), per express (to connect with Maaapouri at Port Chalmers), at 10.80 a.m.; lata fee letters, 10.40 a.m.; guard’s van, express, 11 a.tn. Foe Gisborne (direct), per Taviuni, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m,; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports and Australian Colonies, per Hauroto, at 3 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.15 plm. j guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America and West Indies (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, &c., and also for Northern Ports of New Zealand, par Takapnna as follows:—Ordinary letters at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, S p.m.; books and newspapers, 7.30 p.m.; money orders, 4 p.m,; registered letters, 5 p.m.; guard’s vau, 9.5 p.m. train. This mail is due in London on April 26. Thursday, March 23. For Dunedin, per Rotorua, at 11.10 a.m.; late tea letters, 11.20 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Chatham Islands, per H.M.S. Ringdove, at 3 p.m.; lata foe letters, 3.15 p.m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train.
Note.— Direct mail service to United Kingdom. There will be no departure of direct steamers on March 30 from the Colony, but the Eaahine end Tainui will both leave Lyttelton on April 22, next.
