CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, March 14. (Before V/. J. Neate, Esq.) Drunkenness. —" William Smith "was fined 10s and Is Gd cab hire, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. (Before R. Beetham, Esq., 8.M., R. Westenra and H. J. Hall, Eaqs.) Civil Cases. —Judgment was given for plaintiffs, by default, with coats, in tho following cases:—H. B. Rowo v. G. W. Ireland, claim -CIS 6a, Mr M’Connel for plaintiff; W. Hazelhursb v. W. Fox, £5 12a 81; T. Taylor v. B. Buchanan, 18s Id; C. Klingenatein v. B. M’Cree, 13s 9d. Mr Byrne for plaintiff.F. C. Raphael v. IV. Harper, claim £7 16s, judgment summons. The casa was adjourned till May 2 to enable the judgment debtor to pay off the debt at the rate of £1 a weak.—lzard and Loughnan v. Barker and Sons, claim £l2 on a dishonoured promissory note.' Mr Stringer appeared for Thomas William and Robert Henry Barker. Tho senior partner in the firm, J. E. Barker, did not appear. It was proved that tho senior partner in the firm signed the bill, and judgment was given for Thomas William and Robert Henry Barker and against J. B. Barker.—James Gl«nville v. Thomas Armstrong, claim £2 for work done. Mr Flosber for plaintiff; Mr Stringer for defendant. Plaintiff said he prepared a plan for alterations to defendant’s shop. No price was agreed upon, and defendant had nob paid the money. Defendant said he agreed to pay 10s for the work. He paid plaintiff tho money directly ho completed the plan. Defendant’s son and William Brown said they saw defendant pay ■plaintiff half a sovereign in his (defendant’s) shop. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £l.—M. Hogan v, Allan Hopbins, claim £23 3s 3d. Mr Sister for plaintiff, Mr Kippenberger for defendant, who paid £l3 18s 3d into Court. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount paid into Court. LYTTELTON. Tuesday, March 14. (Before S. E. Webb and T. Dyer, Esqs.) Throwing- a Missile. —H. C. Gardner, John Foreman and James Northy, three youths, were charged with throwing a missile, to the danger of passere-by, in London street. They pleaded “Not guilty.” J. H. Davis and T, Alexander deposed that on Sunday evening they were standing talking in London street when an apple was thrown by one of the defendants. No notice was taken of this, but shortly afterwards another was thrown, which hit Alexander on the neck. The witnesses thou went across the street and remonstrated with defendants, and while they were speaking Constable Fitzgerald came up and was informed of what had taken place. Constable Fitzgerald said that, the witnesses Davis and Alexander bad accused the prisoners of having thrown an apple at them in the street, and they (the accused) had not denied having doing so. They were, the witness stated, three members of a gang of larrikins who frequented the streets at all hours of the day and night, and against whom tho police were constantly getting complaints. They were a source of considerable annoyance to all decent people passing tho streets. A list of previous convictions was handed in, and the Bauch said it was determined to put a atop to tho conduct of the band of boys and youths who frequented the streets. They would bo fined' 20s and coats, in default seven days’imprisonment The prisoners asked for time in which to find the money, and they were granted a week. EANGIOEA. Tuesday, March 14. (Before H. S. Warded, Esq., K. M., and B. E. Good, Esqs.) Civil Cases.— P. Busch v. E. Pepper, claim £l6 18s 4d. A set-off of £7 5a was put in. Mr Spaokman for defendant, who admitted some of the items, but disputed charges for damage alleged to have been done to plaintiff’s premises rented by him. After hearing evidence at considerable length, tho Bench gave judgment for £6 10s, and £1 5a costs.—W. Vaughan v, M. Backetb, claim £1; Case adjourned, defendant being allowed 5s expenses.
