WASHINGTON, March 13. - A canal ia being cut between Lakes Erie and Ontario, thirteen miles in length, which will save 112 miles of transport. It is intended to form the first section of the proposed canal between Montreal and New York. HAWAII. President Cleveland will renew the treaty, if Hawaii desires it. 'The President considers that hia predecessor was hasty in his action respecting Hawaii.
