The Miowera left the Bluff at 4,80 p.m. on Thursday, and proceeded to Melbourne direct. She arrived at Melbourne Heads at nine o’clock ou Sunday night, her passage having occupied 78hr lOmin, after allowing for difference of time, equivalent to an average speed of 15 - 3 knots per hour, an excellent performance. The Mavaroa’s record, however, is even better. She left the Bluff at 5.5 p.m. on Thursday, proceeding thence to Milford Sound; left Milford Sound at 9 a.m. on Friday, and arrived at Melbourne Heads at 8.20 a.m. on Monday, her average speed on tho passage from the Sounds being 15-6 knots per hour. Akaroa, March 14. H.M.S. Katoomba arrived at 7.40 a.m. from Port Chalmers, and during her stay here her crew will be exercised in gun and torpedo practice. The vessel will probably sail on March 24.
