REVOLUTION OR BIMETALLISM.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— Give my kind regards to Mr Arthur M’Donald, and tell him I read every word of his nice short latter. Now Mr M’Donald may be quite _ right as regards the value of gold and silver, wool and rabbitakina ■—especially rabbitakine. Of course I would never take him for a socialist, and should thiuk individualism more in his lino; but I can assure Mr M’Donald I would not object to New Zealand greenbacks if they would procure the necessaries I need. When Mr M’Donald was a very small boy I advocated in the Dunedin Evening Star a State bank, and a got laughed at for my trouble, but now many besides myself would rather take State notes than some bank notes, especially Australian ones. As a matter of fact, paper is used more than either gold or silver in large business transactions, and if the paper had the security of the State on the face of it, we could do with less of the metal. —I am, &c., MINTAGE OB STATE BANE.
