ODDFELLOWSHIP.

The members of the Loyal Phillips* town .Lodge held their first meeting* after having removed into the Linwood social ball, on Tuesday. There was a good attendance of members, and visitors were present from the Loyal City of Christchurch, Benevolent, Perseverance and Addington Lodges. Pcov Q.M. Bto Woods was also present. Sick pay was passed to one brother, one candidate waa proposed for membership, and the Secretary was instructed to write to the Eev C« H, Bradbury, thanking him for his practical sermon at the church parade on Sunday last. A Committee was elected to make arrangements for celebrating the anniversary of the Lodge, and after tha ordinary business had been transacted tha newly-elected N.G., Bro G. E. Sanford, declared the Lodge open for harmony, when the following sang songs:—Broa Harper, Lawson, Ricketts, Prov G. M. Woods, Currie, Grose, Toomer, Gourley, Hill and G. Collier, and recitations were given by Bros Gourley, Bioketts and Grose* In responding on behalf of the District officers, Prov G. M. Woods kindly offered a framed certificate to any member of tha Lodge who proposed sis or more members during the ensuing twelve months, which, offer was accepted with thanks.—The usual, fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Nil Desperandmn Lodge, No. 6637, M.TJ., East Oxford, was held on Saturday, when,, considering the weather, the attendance' was very fair. The newly-elected N.G., Bro A. Baxter, V.G. Bro W. Mann and G.M. Bro F. G. Joseph Lough occupied! their respective chairs, and the Lodge was' opened in the usnal manner. The sick visitors’ report showed that four brethren were on the funds of the Lodge. One candidate was initiated. Sick pay amounting to £7 6s 8d was passed for payment, tha receipts being &1 15s 6d.—The usual fortnightly meeting of No. 36 Eidgley Lodge, A.C., was held on Wednesday evening* Bro John Nash, N.G., presiding. There was a large attendance of members and visitors, the principal business of the evening being the installation of officers for the’ ensuing term. The D.D.G.M. Bro Townsend, assisted by Bros Turnbull, Teague, and White, P.G’s., installed the officers in their respective positions. N.G., Bro J. Nash; V.G., Bro J. Warner; Secretary, Bro Hunter; Treasurer, Bro Scott* E.S. to N.G., Bro Slocombe; L.S. to N.G., Bro G. E. Taylor; Warden, Bro Joughin; 0.G., Bro W. Taylor; LG., Bro Halloway. During the evening Bro Teague, F.G., on behalf of the Lodge, presented Bro Scott with a very handsome framed motto of the Order, in recognition of his past valuable services to the Lodge* After a large amount of routine business had been transacted, the Lodge was closed; in due form by the N.G.—The ceremony of inducting the newly-elected officers of the Loyal Victoria Lodge, No. 19,1.0.0. F., A.C., into their respective chairs, took place in the Oddfellows' Hall, Geraldine, on Thursday evening. Tha Lodge was opened by Bro J. Williams, N.G., and. after some routine business had been transacted, Bro G. H. Patrick, D.D.G.M., installed the following:—N.G., Bro J. W, Pye; V.G. Bro C. Pye; Secretary, Bro J, H. Dean; Treasurer, Bro P. W. Worner; Warden, Bro J. Puzzey; Conductor, Bro J. P. Kalangher, and Chaplain, Bro J. H. Sutherland. After the Lodge was closed, a “social” was held, the hall having been previously decorated with tree ferns and other greenery. Messrs Lorens and Ollirer, of Temuka, supplied the music, and Bro W. M. Patrick acted most efficiently as M.C. There was a large assemblage, and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Loyal Benevolent Lodge celebrated its twenty-sixth anniversary in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Montreal street north, on Friday, by a "social.” Dancing was kept up with spirit till 1 a.m., and was interspersed with songs and instrumental solos, contributed by Mesdsmes Amos, Bowe and Maling, Misses Bees and Davis, Bros Maling, Kinsman, Brown, Bradley and Ward, Bros Maling and Foster officiating; as M.G.’e, and Mr Eossiter presiding. at the piano. The hall was tastefully decorated with evergreens, and the district banner was hung in the centre. The recent alterations to the interior are a very great improvement, and will be appreciated by those using the building.
