YESTEEDAT’S .MARKET. There was not so large aa attendance as usual, and there was a tone of easing off prevailing,in many sections of the market, which was proved by a slight reduction of values in many departments. The weather was perfect. ■ . Store Sheep.— Between 4000 and 5000 were yarded, and comprised various kinds of cross-bred ewes for breeding, a number of merinos, 1 and a fair sprinkling of lambs. Among them was a line which created considerable interest, viz., the recent consignment of cross-bred and halfbred wethers which arrived in Lyttelton last Wednesday from Mr E. R. Chudleigh’a station, Wharekauri, Chatham Islands, 1537 of which were sold in this section of the market. The best draft of these was secured at • 13s lid by Mr Kenneth MTntoah, who has previously secured other sheep from the Islands, and knows how well they fare on his fat pastures. The second draft sold at 11s lid and 10a 6d, and the culls and maimed sheep brought 6a 9d. Cross-bred lambs realised from 6s 9d for some very poor sorts, to 9s 7d for good sorts not finished, and a lice that would have bean fit for export was sacrificed at 10s Bd. _ The sale of breeding ewes was limited in extent, but good sorts found purchasers at slightly reduced rates. Two-tooths brought 12s 9d, 13s, 13s 7d, and up to 14s, two and four-tooths from 11s Id to 13s Sd; a good fresh line of sound-mouth three-ouarter-breds brought 14s Bd-to 15s Id; some cross-breds with failing mouths reached 11s sd, and broken-mouthed sheep sold at 8s 7d and 9s 2d; a line of small wethers sold at 11s 4d; merino ewes sold, according to quality, at from 3s 2d to 6s 6d. Chatham Islands, 807 cross-bred wethers at 13s lid, 400 at 11a lid, 300 at 10a to 10s 6d, and 68 at 6s 9d; for Mr P. Henley, 209 lambs at 9s sd, 64 at 6s lid; for Mr H. M'Connell, 90 merino ewes at 4s Gd. Messrs Ptne and Co. sold 104 two and fourtooth wethers and ewes at 13s sd, 92 at 11s id. Mr P. C. Tabart sold for clients, 172 merino ewes at 5s 4d, 154 at 5s 6d, 155 at 3s 2d, 99 lambs at 7s 9d, 125 cross-bred ewes at 8s 7d, 75 at 9s 2d. Messrs Todhunteb and Jennings sold for various clients, 131 cross-bred ewes at 14s, 276 cross-bred lambs at 9s 6d to 9s 7d, 302 merino ewes afc 4s 2d, 671 three-quarter-bred lambs at Bs, 46 cross-bred lambs at 9s, 116 do at 7s, 142 do at 9s, 98 two-tooth cross-breds at 12s 9d, 213 cross-bred ewes at 11s sd, 518 merino ewes afc 6s 6d, 76 two-tooth cross-breds at 13s 7d, 41 lambs at 10s to 10s Bd.

Fat Lambs.-— Only 150 lambsvwere submitted in the tat pens, and there was not much demand. Best sorts brought from lie to 12s td, and second-rate lambs sold at 93 6d to 10s 9d. Messrs H. Matson and Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of N.Z., Limited) sold for Mr C. Barrett, 29 . at 10s lOd; for Mr J. M'Gmnness, 7 at 10s Gd; for Mr H, Yarr, 8 at Os 3d. Mr F. C. Fat Sheep. —The entry was about 6000 in number, and the quality very varied, some very prime cross-bred wethers being sold at from 16s to 17a 9d, and one exceptionally prime lot at 21s. Mixed lines of wethers and maiden ewes also sold neatly up to last week’s quotations, but there was a falling off in values of second-class sheep, old ewes and merino wethers.
