The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Melbourne, writing under date Feb. 2, reports as follows:—The market has hardened somewhat, owing principally to the inability of purchasers to get their supplies. Farmers are mostly storing, and unless a tempting price is offered few can bo induced to sell. Prime wheat is worth about 4s 2d. Feed grain has a fairish inquiry only. Milling oats are chiefly in demand; for good stout 2s lOd could be obtained, while for Algerians, fit for same purpose. Is lid could be got; ordinary feed lota 2a 6d for beat and 2s id to 2s 4d for Tartariana and good Danish. Barley is held for higher prices, so lictle is at present offering; nominally 3a 4d is top price. Maize has little inquiry, 2s lOd for prime and 2a 7d to 2a 9d for fair to good. No NewiZealand oats in bond offering at present, but 2a 4d is the nominal quotation.
