YESTERDAY’S MARKET. The weather yesterday, anything hut favourable for harvest operations, did nob prevent a numerous attendance at Addington. In all departments of the sale, except the classes for cattle, the entries were large. Store Cattle, The number yarded was small, and all the animals entered were cleared at rates fully equal to those ruling last week. Messrs H. Matson and Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of N.Z., Limited) sold for Mr F. Brown, bull at £4 10a; for Mr J. Parish, bull at £2 ; for Mr F. Brown, 1 cow at £3 12s 6d ; for Mr H. Hayes, 6 yearlings at £1 15s; for Mr L. Store Sheep.— About 3500 were yarded; buyers were numerous, and biddings more spirited than ever. The bulk of the entry was represented by cross-bred lambs, which sold readily at from 8s to 9s Gd; aged crossbred ewes, 8s Gd to 9a Id; sound-mouthed cross-bred ewes, 11s 7d; a line of fourtooth forward - conditioned cross - bred wethers, 14s to 14s Gd; corresponding ewes, 13s Gd; merino ewes, failing mouths, 4s Gd. Fat Sheep.— There was a very full entry, which was above the average in quality, but which included a good proportion of dry cross-bred ewes, and fewer merino wethers than usual wore entered. Competition at the beginning of the sale was brisk, but eased off as the sale progressed, particularly for cross-bred ewes, which showed a marked decline in value on last week’s rates, the fall doubtless being clue to the large number entered. Prime freezers maintained their late values. Merino wethera, towards the end of the sale, showed a decline corresponding with that which took place in cross-bred ewes. Messrs H. Matson and Co.
