The President of the Christchurch Club, Dr Thomas, returned thanks. Ho complimented the Canterbury Club on the great improvement in its green, which now played perfectly. He hoped that effect would be given to the suggestion that when the first sixteens of both Clubs were engaged in any future match, arrangements would be made for the other players to engage in a friendly match on the unoccupied green. Such an an arrangement would, he thought, tend to popularise the game for those players who had not been selected for the Club match. He concluded by calling for three cheers for the Canterbury Club which were heartily given.
