SOUTH CANTERBURY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

At a meeting of the South Canterbury Board of Education held yesterday the Chairman (Mr Goldsmith) stated that since last meeting Miss D. Sutherland had resigned her position at Hilton school, and accepted a position at Aibury; Mr A. Marshall bad resigned bis position at Waimate; Miss Oliver was acting as locum ienens at Waimataitai in place of Mias L. Kowley, absent on sick leave ; Mr Duff was appointed teacher at the Bangitata Island school. The architect reported on the requirements of several school buildings, and several works were authorised. The inspector reported on the result of the examinations of the following schools : Claremont, Washdyke, Kingsdown, Seadown and Wai-iti. He also gave a general report on the Temuka, Winchester, Orari South and Bellleld schools. The results in nearly all the schools were favourable, and the general examinations were considered good. Mr Pearpomt handed in his report on the boundary of the Woodbury school district, and it was resolved —“That the Woodbury Committee be informed that should the Education Act be altered in the direction of raising any portion of the funds required. for school purposes locally (an event not probable, however) the question of boundaries of existing districts will have to be revised." The liev G. Barclay wrote resigning his seat on the Waimate High School Board.
