MARKET REPORTS.
Messrs H. Matson and Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of N.Z., Limited) report for the week ending June 22, 1891: —Wheat.—We have nothing special to report. Prices are about on a level with last week’s, viz., Tuscan 4s 3d, Pearl 4s 2d, Hunter’s 4s to 4s Id. Shipments are being made to London more liberally, shippers having more inducement offered to them in the ’matter of freights. Australia, so far, has not required New Zealand wheat. Oats.—-The demand for the best sorts has been good, owing to requirements for London and Rio orders; there has also been a good sale for feed for the local trade. Quotations : Prime up to Is lOd, short feed Is 8d to Is 9d, Duns Is 8d to Is 9d, long feed Is 7d. Barley.—The inquiry is weaker at recent quotations of 2s Sd to Bs, inferior to prime malting; feed Is 9d to 2s. Potatoes.—There is no improvement in the market; buyers are still offering 17s 6d to 20a at country stations. Three-fourths of the potatoes being delivered are rejected, on the grounds of second growth or frosted, and consequently have to be picked over. Prices range from 4£d to s£d for the latter, and 6s to 5s 6d for the former, and we look for these prices to be maintained. Beans are in demand at 2a 9d, but the quantity offering this year is much below that of last. Peas.—Blues are taken up at 2s 9d to 8s for good to prime, and feed at 2s 4d to 2s 6d.
