Chilian ladies are selling their jewellery in order to raise money with which to purchase arms for the insurgents. The United States cruiser Charleston has arrived at the Peruvian port of Callao, and her officers report that they have failed to find a trace of the rebel steamer Itata.
It is believed that the Mexican authorities were frightened by the presence of the Chilian insurgent warship Esmeralda in the port of Acapulco, and thus permitted her to coal.
The insurgents threaten to bom* bard Valparaiso, but it is expected * that the United States, Great Britain, and other Powers, will step in to prevent it,

The United States Government has abandoned the chase of the steamer Itata.
[Received Hay SI, at 5.50 p.m.] WASHINGTON, Mat SO. It is reported that the Chilian rebel steamer Itata, after which a United States cruiser had a fruitless chase, is mating a voyage to Meli bourne.
