THE QUEENSLAND LOAN.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —When reading the account of the astounding failure of the Queensland loan in your issue of to-day, and taking' into account the recent failure of the Yiotoriani loan, I conld not help thinking that if any. of the other Colonies attempted to borrow; money they would experience the same fate, and I believe it would be a very good! thing if this did happen, because then tho ; Colonies would have to follow the example! of the Government of the United States,! who, in 1857, when they found they couloi borrow no more .money, set to work and' manufactured their own, for which they! pay no interest. Now, the Queensland Government, having; experienced such a gigantic failure, would! do well to set the example, and manufac-i ture what money they require to carry on' the business of the Colony, and thus make' themselves self-reliant }; and I have notthej slightest doubt that the success which, would attend such a movement would! cause the other Colonies to follow suit.* Thanking you for the space,—l am, &0., STATE PAPER ISSUE. ■
