ASHLEY TRAFFIC BRIDGE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, Tour correspondent Mr Max Whatman, in referring to the meeting held at Lobnrn on July 21, says:—" It was found that, by an oversight of the Road Board members, the necessary preliminary steps had not been taken, and that the poll would be useless and illegal." For the information of Mr Whatman and the ratepayers who attended the above meeting, I should like them to know that there waa no oversight on the part of the Board, but that all the necessary steps were taken, and the poll was not illegal.—l am, &c., WALTER C. NICHOLLS, Chairman Ashley Road Board. ■ July 29, 1890.
