Mails close for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations: — Tuesday, July 29. For Otago, per Mararoa, at 11.10 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.20 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Penguin, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 8 p.m.; guard’s van, 9.5 p.m. train. Thursday, July 31. For Northern Forts, per Penguin, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Porta, and also for South Sea Islands, per Te Anau, at 3 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.15 p.m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m, train. Friday, August 1. For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe (specially addressed per Orient steamer only), and also for Australian Colonies, per express (to connect with s.s. Mararoa at Port Chalmers), at 10.15 a.m.; late fee letters, 10.25 a.m.; guard’s van on express, 11 a.m. Note.— On and after July 29, extra mails for Methven and Cairnbrae will close at Christchurch each Tuesday at 7 a.m., and the return mail will arrive at Christchurch at 7.10 p.m. each Tuesday.
