The Duke of Cambridge will preside at the meeting of Australian Colonists and merchants, which is to be held in tho People’s Palace next month to consider tho resolutions in support of Colonial Federation. Speaking on Federation, Earl Rosebery said that England should not approach the Colonies in the attitude of a beggar, and it waa impossible to force Federation on them. In the Legislative Assembly, Sir H. Parke a has given notice that the Federation proposals agreed upon at the Melbourne Conference be discussed on Wednesday. Ho intends to propose that Messrs W. M'Hillau (East Sydney), J. P. Abbott (Wentworth), J. P. Garvan (Edou), and himself from the Legislative Assembly, and Messrs E. Barton Jennings and W. H. Sutter, from tho Legislative Council, shall be the New South Wales delegates to the nest Federation. The Opposition are annoyed at Mr G. E. Dibbs, tho member for Murrumbidgeo being overlooked, and tho omission of his name from the list is likely to cause some trouble.
