VICTORIAN WOOL MARKET.

The following is from the “ Annual Review of the Victorian Wool Market," compiled by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited, Melbourne, for season 1889-1890. Apart from the phenomenal development of business shown by that firm, the figures will prove interesting to many of our readerses As the growth of a wool brokerage business so closely reflects the satisfaction afforded to the producers, we have pleasure in again referring to the subject. The figures given below show thatthis Company, as a whole, has sold 210,970 bales, the largestnumher dealt with by any onebroking and exporting firm in the world. An increase is thus displayed in their total wool business of 24,973 bales; the Melbourne branch having sold 20,846' bales this season in excess of their previous season’s operations. This increase is unprecedented in the annals of the business in Australasia. “The statement below gives the sales in Colonies, and the shipmets to London, of the five principal brokers in this market for the year.

Table of "Wool Offered and Bold in the Melbourne Market from Oct, 1 to Feb. 28, 1890, by comparison with, sales during the same period of 1883-9

The above figures indicate that the Company has secured nearly 50 per cent of the whole increase of the wool business-in this market for the season.
