THE DUNEDIN CONFERENCE. [Peb Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Apeil 27. The delegates from the Wharf Labourers’ Union continued sitting on Saturday, the representatives being—Auckland, Messrs Bines, Boocstra, Pierley; Gisborne, Mr Greume; Napier, Mr Penn ; Wellington, Messrs D. P. Fisher, Seymour, Seoones; Lyttelton, Messrs Brown, LeWarne, Serra; Oamaru, Messrs Grappalear and M'Laughlin; Timarn, Messrs Fogarty and Matthews; Dunedin,Messrs Forster, Percy, Hayes; Bluff, Messrs M'Dougall and Hay. The most important question dealt with was that of federation with the Unions in Melbourne, Sydney and other Australian Colonies. The rales adopted at the conference held in Sydney were taken as the proposed basis. The principle of federation was unanimously adopted. Rnl eg regarding the management of the Federal Union and the constitution of the head body were discussed, and it was decided to refer them to the Maritime Council for approval prior to adoption. When the intercolonial Union is formed it will be the largest labour organisation in the Southern Hemisphere, as it will embrace a membership of not less than 24,000. The Federal Council will comprise two representatives from each Colony, and onnufli sessions will be held. Each Colony has the management of its own funds. Members of the Union cannot work with Coolie, Chinese and cheap labour. The remainder of the session will be occupied principally in dealing with the rules ot the New Zealand Union.
