The fine ship Carlisle Castle was putting out ballast yesterday preparatory to loading produce for London. She Trill be ready to receive cargo to-day. Akaroa, Timaru, Oan ara and Dunedin yesterday afternoon. The barque Thyatir i, 962 tons, loads a part cargo of flax at this port for New York, and Alls up at Wellington. The ship Wellington 1 is making fair progress with the discharge of her cargo of merchandise. All her general cargo will be out to-day, and then only about 350 tons of dead weight will remain on board. The brigantine Circe was cleared •at the Customs yesterday for Invercargill with a cargo of woolpacks. The ship Miltiades, loading on account of Shaw, Savill and Albion Company for London, has been receiving cargo pretty briskly during the past few days. She is to be followed by the Wellington and Halcione, the latter to arrive. The steamer Rosamond was transhipping coal into the E.M.S.S. Eimutaka yesterday. The four-masted ship Wendnr, loading produce for the New Zealand Shipping Company for London, is rapidly getting down in the water. She is expected to be a full ship to-day, and will probably proceed to sen to-morrow. The steamer Akaroa made a special trip to Akaroa yesterday. The steamer Mamari, the first of Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s cargo boats, will arrive in Port on Sunday next from Spit, where she is now receiving cargo* Captain Maxwell, late of the ship Oamaru, has charge of her. The freezing hulk Edwin Fox is receiving a thorough overhaul prior to going into commission. She will freeze the Wellington’s cargo of mutton, and will probably make a start in that direction next week. The barque Ofaeron was taking in wheat throughout yesterday. • The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Rotomahana arrived in Port yesterday morning from Auckland and way ports. She left Auckland at noon on Jan. 16, called at Gisborne, Napier and Wellington, and left the latter port at 5.30 p.m. on Monday. Experienced a strong southerly wind and heavy eea from Wellington. She left for southern ports and Melbourne yesterday morning. The Wareatea, from Westport direct, is due on Thursday with coal for Messrs Geo: M’Clatchie and Co.

The s.s. Wakatipu arrives early this morning from Newcastle, and will discharge her cargo of coal for Messrs Geo. M'Clatchie and Co.
