Lord Knutsford has cabled to Government that General Edwards has been instrncted to communicate with the Colonial authorities with reference to the inspection of Colonial forces. At the request of Prince Bismarck he is making a tour of the world for the purpose of acquiring information regarding commerce, railway administration, land laws, agriculture, and general industries in various countries. QUARANTINE ON CATTLE. HOBART, June 13. A recommendation has been made to Government to reduce the period of quarantine on cattle imported from New Zealand to thirty days.

The trawling expedition instituted by the Government, has revealed extensive fishing grounds along the coast, which are said to be of great value.
