SCOTTISHCHESS ASSOCIATION
The Glasgow WecMy Herald , of July 28, gives an account of the annual meeting of this Association, which commenced on July 17, and terminated on July 21. This meeting was invested with peculiar interest by the fact that Captain M'Kenzie, who is a Scotchman by birth, and therefore eligible as a competitor, entered the .major Tournament, and as might have been anticipated carried off tbe principal prize, though in order to do so he had to play his best. His games against both Mr Mills and Mr Chambers were very closely contested and ended in draws, the last having lasted a whole day. In addition to Captain M‘Kenzie there were six competitors, Messrs Barbier, Chambers, Fyfe, Hunter, Mills, and Spens. The final score was as follows :
