[Bt Telegraph.] [from ottb own correspondent.] WELLINGTON. Feb. 1. The Wellington Racing Club’s meeting commences to-morrow, and, should the weather continue as at present, a good day’s sport may be anticipated. The event of the day, the Woil; Cup, is likely to produce a fair field, as out of the eight acceptors Lady Norah is likely to be the only absentee. The following is a list of the probable starters and jockeys . Tetford, Sat 51b (Kidd). j Strenuous, Sat Sib (M Cormick). The Shah. Set 41b (G. Williams). Pearl, Bst 21b (W. Clifford). Beresford, 7st 81b (Huxtable). Administrator 7st 71b (Yaile). Little Scrub 6st fßnokeridge). What little betting has taken place makes Beresford and Pearl equal favourites at 2to 1; Tetford is at 3 to 1; and, bar three, 100 to 14 is offered. The finish should result in a victory for Beresford, and of the outside division Little Scrub must have a show, although Buckeridge will have to declare 7lb over weight to ride him. The Pearl contingent are very sanguine of her chance to win, but if her form at Island Bay is correct she cannot have much show. Tetford, too, has been well backed by ids followers, and Mr Bobbett may be recompensed for his last year’s disappointment in running second with Lady Norab. Strenuous arrived this morning, and is looking well The Telegraph Stakes should be won by Whisper, Hurdles by Jim, Stewards’ and Welter Handicaps by Marlborough. THE DUNEDIN CUP. [Peb Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 1. Nelson was scratched at 10.40 a.m. for the Dunedin Cup.
