The dispute between the squatters and the Shearers' Union in the Warraambooldistrict has assumed serious proportions. A state of terrorism prevails at Caramnt, where a party of 120 men have encamped within the township. The men are behaving in an orderly manner, but great uneasiness exists. Scouts are posted at all the entrances to the various shearing grounds in the vicinity in order to prevent others than Unionists from proceeding to the sheds. Several squatters are reported to have yielded to the demands of the Union. SMALL-POX. No fresh cases of small-pox are reported from Tasmania. Goldshrongh and Co., Limited, held their usual weekly wool sale to-day, at which 6000 bales were disposed of at satisfactory prices. There was a large attendance of buyers, and the competition was spirited, good light greasy wool realised from 9jd to llsd, at which price several large clips were placed. Superior lambs 1 wool fetched from Is to Is Id per lb; good cross-breds from 84 to 9dj bulky pieces, from 7d to Bd. Good scoured wool brought 17d.
