SHOCKING FATAL ACCIDENT.

[Pbe Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 20. Last night Miss Minnie Gledhill, aged twenty years, second daughter of Mr George Gledhill, cordial manufacturer, was fearfully burned in the residence at Ponaonby. The curtain of the bedroom had caught fire from a gas iefc, and in putting out the flames the lady’s dress ignited. Losing her presence of mind, she rushed out; the air fanned the flames, and she was terribly burned about the lower part cf the body before effective help arrived. She lingered in great agony tul this morning, when she expired. A younger sister, aged fifteen, got badly burned by trying to extinguish the flames. Some of the neighbours put out the fire in the bedroom before much damage was done.
