But we have now determined in future to allow no retail firm to sell any one article, as a leading line or not, cheaper than ourselves. If others are in a position to sell as cheap as us, that is their business, but it is our business to allow no onO to sell a singleitem cheaper, as we reckon to hold a position, both financially and as regards knowledge of the trade second to none in Christchurch. t But if the dealings of some, who initial themselves as a Company ’in parrot-like imitation of areally large concern, are no more honest than their assertions, their quotations are no criterion of what prices they sell at. We can positively state, without fear of contradiction, that there is no Company, however homely, connected with the Betail Grocery Business in Christchurch. We never attempted to cut, hut have simply sold at a low profit rather than give credit j while otneib obtained a very large profit, which the difference in the prices of groceries now to what they were a few months ago will prove, as the imported coat of most articles has had a tendency to rise rather than fall. So, in future, if any retailer is tempted to soil any article at leas than a payable profit, they must reckon ns in their calculation, as we are determined to take no second position to anyone, and we undertake to present anyone with a pound of our well-known Is lOd Blended Tea that can point out any article of the saino brand, that is being sold cheaper elsewhere; Owing to the great influx of trade daring the Cbrisimas week, some delay was occasioned in the delivery of goods, which was unavoidable.
