As they made the top turn Leon fell back, and Jack and Fair Nell coming up on the inside, headed Quibble and Apropos, and went on in pursuit of the leader. At the distance Pair' Nell got her head in front, hut Jack at once gave way, and the two fillies ran a great race to the rails, where Pair Nell drew out and won cleverly by a length. Mr Carey has several bad outs about the face, and Mrs : Carey is bruised about the forehead, and complains of her hack being hurt. • Mr Carey is able to go about, but the lady is confined to her bed.
