PARLIAMENT OUT OF SESSION.

MB SAMUEL AT NEW PLYMOUTH. [Per Pbbsb Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, March 22. Mr O. Samuel, M.H.E., addressed hia constituents last night, when the large hall was crowded. He reviewed the work of the session. Referring to the political scandals, he said Major Steward had innocently placed himself in a false position, but the charges against Sir Julius Vogel j were proved to be foul slanders on an innocent man. He doubted the sincerity of the Government’s profession respecting retrenchment, but what was wanted to reduce the expenditure was more backbone in the members to carry out any proposal made for reduction. He intimated that if electors could not find a more suitable person to bring forward to represent them at the next election he was willing to stand. A vote of confidence was carried unanimously.
