THE ALLEGED MAORI HOMICIDE.
[Pua Press Association.] HAWEEA, Maech 22. Ihe body of Kaihai, the Native woman, on the charge of murdering whom Te Pehi Nero is under arrest, was exhumed this morning, and the opened at Otakeho. before Mr C. A. Wray, Coroner. The medical evidence given as the result of the post mortem was very conclusive as to the woman having brutally murdered. The skull was found to be fractured, the breast smMhed in. and extensive injury had been done to the abdomen, arms, legs; and, m fact, an parts of the body were more or Ims injured, but the neck was not found dislocated, as had been expected, owing to current rumour*. After the medical evidence had been given. Inspector Pardy applied for an adjournment till Monday, April 4. There is immense difficulty in getting evidence, the Natives declining to give any assistance, to make any statement, or m any way to countenance the proceedings, but the police hope, before the inquest is renewed, to have obtained some information which will enable them to bring the crime home to the guilty person.
