The cricket match, non-smokers v. smokers, was continued to-day. The former, who yesterday lost two wickets for 420, continued this morning, and when the stumps were drawn, had compiled 792 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Shrewsbury, who yesterday was not out for 186, managed to score 236. Gunn contributed 150, Briggs 57, Musgrove 62, Worrall 78. On St Patrick’s. Day a match was played between Ashburton and Bakaia teams, on the ground of the latter, and resulted in a win for the home team by 47 runs. The visitors were well entertained, and a most enjoyable day spent. The scores were Rakaia, 101 (Reid 25, Withers 23, Lyttleton 21, Secretan 12, Oxley 11) ; Ashburton, 54 (Atkinson 14, Caygill 12).
