MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close lor the following places as under (subject to the necessary alterations) Tuesday, May 18. For Porta between Hokitika and Jackson’s Bay, including Big Bay and George Eiver, at 7 a.m. For Akaroa, per Mabinapua, at 11.30 a.m, j late fee letters, at 11.40 a.m.; guard's van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Westport, per Timaru, at 11.30 a.m.; late fee letters, at 11.40 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Otago, per Ta Auau, at 1.4 S p.m.; lata fe letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Hawea at 7 p.m,; guard’s van, 8.15 p.m. train. Wednesday, 19th May. For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe via Brindisi (specially addressed correspondence only), Point de Guile, India, China, Japan, &c., &c.. and Australian Colonies (except New South Wales and Queensland); and also for the United Kingdom, &c., (specially addressed •* per Orient steamer only”), per express, to connect with s.s. TeAnau, at 7. 30 a.m.

This mail will be due in London on June 30.

Note. —On Monday, May 24, the Queen's Birthday, the post-office will he closed in all its branches. Mails usually despatched on that day will cl se at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, Correspondence usually delivered by letter carriers on Monday morning may be obtained on application at the delivery counter from 9 till 10 en Saturday night.
