ST JOHN AMBULANCE.

An ordinary meeting of the Committee of 'the St John Ambulance Society was held yesterday afternoon, in the Provincial Council Chamber; present:—His "Worship the Mayor (Chairman), Dean Jacobs, Rev T. Flavell, Messrs Wolfe, Hulbert, Evans, Mesdames Flavell, Peacock, Gibb,. Webb, Nashelski, and Miss Feeney. The Secretary read a letter from th« Secretary of the North Canterbury Board of Education, saying that the Board would give every facility to the Association for the instruction of the pupils of the Normal School. The Secretary stated that the students would have to pay their fees,.as the Board j would be unable to do so. Only two ladies I had sent in their names. ''*''•;.• Letters were read from Mr Moore, of Geraldine, and from the Addington Workshops Association, the former asking forinformation as to ,the establishment of a. branch, and the latter detailing what had been done by them. The. Secretary announced that he had granted Dr Hacon's application for the use of the two-wheeled litter for the Oamaru encampment. A letter was read from Mr W. J. Watts, of the Chester street Fire Brigade Station, givingan account of the use of the stretcher that had lately been made use of in a recent accident. On the motion of Mr Hulbert, seconded by Mrs Peacock, it was arrangedthat the annual ball should take place on or about July 24—fancy dress but not compulsory. Dr Haconwas appointed examiner for the advertised lectures, and a vote of thanks was passed to the medical gentlemen who had acted for the Association, regret being expressed that Dr Brittin had left the district. .
