The British Foreign Office has addressed a reminder to the French Government, calling attention to the agreement in force between the two countries in regard to maintaining the neutral position of the New Hebrides group, the existence of which agreement France fully admits. Lord Granville has reassured the Colonial Agents-General on the subject, and requested them to refer the question to the various Colonial Governments, as he says he can take no action without consulting them. Mr Richai'd Threefall, lecturer on at Caius College, Cambridge, has been appointed Professor of Physics at the Sydney University. A shipment of herring ova will be forwarded by the Ruapehu in March.
