CRIMINAL STATISTICS.
The comparative crime returns for the Canterbury district for the years 1883 and 1884 have just been made up. It will be seen from the following table that there is a considerable decrease in the total number of offences reported, as well as in the number of apprehensions. The following are selections from the statement:—
