A CORRECTION.

TO THE SDITOB. Sib, —From your report of the proceedings at the quarterly meeting of the Ashburton licensing Committee, held yesterday, it would appear that 1 bad told the Committee that Mr Beecher had obtained a temporary transfer of his license for the Central Hotel to Mr G. E, Milner on the advice of Mr Joynb. I certainly did not tell the Committee anything of the sort, but some evidence was led on behalf of the applicant for a confirmation of the temporary transfer (which I was opposing) to show that Beecher had been induced to transfer his license by the production to him of a letter from Mr Stening’a solicitor. By publishing this explanation you will oblige.—l am, Ac., C. W. PURNELL. Ashburton, Dec. 2.
