FAREWELL MEETING.

In connection with Mr J. P. Jameson’s intended removal from this City, a farewell meeting was held on Friday in Trinity Hall, Manchester street, a large number of friends being present. The meeting was specially promoted by tho Young Peoples’ Association of the Church, of which Mr Jameson filled the position of Chairman for the past five years. Tho opportunity was also taken to say good-bye to Miss Jameson hy the members of her school Bible class, which she is compelled to leave. A hymn having been sung, a few introductory remarks from the President (Rev John Hoateon) were made. Tho opening address was followed by tho song, " Kind Hearts Evonmvhere," by Miss Woodham. Mr G. H. Greenwood, after an affectionate address, presented to Miss Jameson a token, in tho form of an elec-tro-plated writing set, on behalf of all the members of her dess. This present was most suitably acknowledged by Mr Jameson, who referred to his daughter’s sorrow at retiring from work to which she was so attached. A pianoforte solo, flvon by Miss Bowler, concluded tho rat part. Refreshments were then partaken of, great credit being duo to the ladies of Committee, for the admirable arrangements of this portion of tho programme. Tho second part was opened by a vocal duet rendered by Misses Bowler and Pellett. Tho hoc rotary of the Association, Mr U K. M'Oiegor, after a neat speech, presented Mr Jameson with ait appropriate address, bountifully illuminated and framed, bearing expressions of appreciation of hi* soniees as chairman, and regret at his neoeraitHted retirement. This was signed, on behalf uf the Asset iation. by the officers ami members of committee Mr 1). Dunlop contributed a song, and Mr A M Oaen delivered »’short address as repiereutattvo of the Committee of the Association, followed by speeches from Messrs Woodham (sen), Widdousott. and Rev John Hoatson, intenq>eraed with songs rendered by Mis# Pellett and Mr George Woodham Mr Jameson, who wax received with hearty and prolonged applause, replied, and in a cheerful and mstnutive speech thanked tho members heartily for their kindness. He referred to the great regret he felt at having to never hi# connection with them ; at the same time he urged these present to a still more active Christian work for the future The Doxology being sung, the gathering, which throughout had been mo»t cordial and successful, terminated.
