At a meeting of the Licensed Victuallers’ Association the following resolution was carried unanimously:—“That, in the opinion of this meeting, the action of the Licensing Commissioners of the City is deserving of censure, inasmuch as they have manifested a spirit of bitterness towards many persons in the trade, which warrants the conclusion that a radical change in the Act and its amendment is absolutely necessary ; that the draft copy of the Bill transmitted from the Otago Association meets with the entire approval of the Auckland Licensed Victuallers’Association, and that it will use every exertion to have the Act arpended in that direction.” A resolution was also passed commending the impartiality of Superintendent Thomson.
