At the Raugiova Auction Rooms yesterday, Messrs Matson, Buss and Co. sold the following nronorties by public auction: —Twenty-id »° P o } of land, adjoining the Rod Lion Hotel, High Hangioriv, with a substantial dwolling-hoase ana a largo shop and dwelling thereon, to Mr J. * iil of Christchurch for £BOO. Xu tho estate of the late Mi J.Shaw, a cottage aud quarter-aero of landin ivoiy street, Kaugioru, to Mr W. Broach, j u,,r :.’, £175. Three cottages, with one-third acre ol Wild to each, situated in High street, near tho railway crossing, one at £l5O, and tho others at £l3O each, Uio respective nu.chasers being Mrs M Crueiton, and Messrs J. Mauhiro and W. Lapthorno. PACKING'SHEEPSKINS. The following is au extract from a London letter, received by the National Mortgage and Agency Company, 'concerning tho proper way to pauic sheepskins for tho Homo market-.—l. The sinus should bo folded once lengthways, with the wool outside, then laid ono on tho top of tho other, until a bale is formed, weighing from 7 to 8 cwt. 2 The halos should have a shoot of canvas at top, and another at tho bottom, aud thou bourn! with iron hoops, say about seven to a bale. The ends aud sides being loft open, the yvool edges of tho skin are thus exposed. 3. Tho advantages are that in this manner the skins are loss exposed to the ravages of vermin, and are more easily inspected and valued by buyers, that the pelts aro benefited by not being folded twice, and that an economy in warehouse charges is effected.
