OAMAETJ WINTEE MEETING. [Pee Psess Association.] OAMAETJ, Apeil 28. The programme of the Oaruaru JockeyClub's Winter Eaces, to be run on June 12, was drawn up this evening, and is as follows:—Maiden Steeplechase, 40 sovs; Oamaru Winter Handicap, 00 sovs; Oaniara Steeplechase, 100 sovs; Bedcastle Handicap, 40 sovs; Handicap District Eace, 25sovs; Selling Steeplechase, 20 sovs; Consolation, 30 sovs. BEACKENFIELD HOUNDS. The third meeting of the season took place at Eangiora yesterday morning. Between thirty and forty horsemen turned up. The most conspicuous in the runswere Mr Starkey (the Master), on Michael Scott; Mr E. Parsons, on Sir Peter ; Mr E. Chapman, on Chutney; Mr G. Mannering, on Lunatic; Mr J. Hurse,on Schoolboy? Mr A. Chapman on aroanmare; and Captain. Cotton. The throw oft was on the Melford. Estate, and a hare was found almost at once. The scent being good a smart threemile run, which occupied twenty minutes, resulted, and closed with a kill. The party then returned as - far as Captain Parsons' place, where another hare was picked up, and led the hounds for two miles before it was killed. A thiid run took place later on, and brought a thorough good day's sport to a close. The hedges were nearly all of gorse, some of them being very stiff. COUESING. A meeting of the Sheffield Coui-sing Club was held on Saturday evening ; present— Mr C. M'Causland (Chairman) and five other members. The accounts showed £3O 16s 3d paid away in stakes, and other expenses, totalling up to £42 lis. It was -decided to hold the Club's next meeting on June 3. A programme, including two events, was drawn up. It was decided, consequent on the bad slipping of last meeting, to accept the services of Mr Jacob Spooner as slipper for the rest of the season. The Secretary and Mr G. E. Willis were authorised to sign cheques on behalf of the Club; and it was decided to purchase slips. Mr Mathias was interviewed by the. Secretary; and kindly permitted the use of paddocks between Racecourse Hill, and Dai-field for the running. The Courtenay Club's second meeting takes place ou May 15, ou Mr Frere's estate.

RIFLE MATCHES. The City Guards beat the Sydenham Rifles by four points. The weather was pretty good, though the wind was blowing a little across the range. CITY GUARDS. SYDENHAM RIFLES. Capt.
